9 Ways to a fabulous kitchen

When I saw this slideshow here on House Beautiful (one of my favourite sites), I had to blog about it. Follow these simple steps to a fab kitchen:

1. Paint the floor. This floor was cleverly hand-painted (yip, by hand!) on the diagonal.

2. Curtain a cabinet. To shake things up, add a curtain to just one cabinet.
3. Cover a lampshade. For a quick update, cover a lampshade with fabric.
4. Paint a focus wall. If you’re color shy, try painting just one wall.
5. Tile boldly. You want a blue kitchen, but you don’t want blue cabinets? Instead of paint or a backsplash, try tile that reaches up to the ceiling.

6. Paint the insides of cupboards. Painting the interior of kitchen cabinets a contrasting color — in this case apple green — supplies a shot of color, and sets off the china.

7. Choose bright cushions. Update seats with cushions in a modern print.
8. Go dark. It may seem counterintuitive, but black doesn’t mean a space will look dark and dated. It can actually transform old cabinetry to a look that’s more modern and sleek.
9. Makeover an Old Chair. Imagine this kitchen without the yellow chair?

It is actually quite amazing what you can do to change things yourself and fairly easily too….I love the painting inside of cupboards idea…and I adore the apple green! ;)

Thanks Colleen! I have yet to get into Pinterest… it’s all about time management (and burning the candle at both ends!) x B
